Toronto Chapter - Credit Institute of Canada

     Today is

President Speech

April 21, 2011Bonnie Mayes, CCP, President

Welcome to the annual AGM, it is nice to see you all out tonight.  My name is Bonnie Mayes and I am proud to have been your Toronto chapter President for the past year, and look forward to the coming year and all its challenges.

I want to keep my speech short so that we can enjoy the presentations from each committee chair as well as the social at the end of the AGM.

Due to the continuing soft economy 2010 - 2011 was still a bit of a challenge for the Toronto Chapter. Thank goodness we had and continue to have a healthy balance sheet that allows us to continue to support our primary objective of returning greater value to our members.  Focusing on this objective enabled us to deliver quality programs and seminars.

The golf tournament was yet again a success and we are looking forward to the same again this year. Start polishing up those clubs, as summer is just around the corner.

There have also been several successful seminars, with another being run on May 12th  - Credit Scoring; hope to see you there.  If you have any suggestions for new seminars, please don’t be shy, email us and let us know your thoughts.

At graduation in November we honored all of our new Credit Specialist’s, CCP’s and award winners.  This event is always so special for us.  Having it held at the Old Mill is one way that we say thank you to all those students that have worked so hard to attain their CCP and Credit Specialist status.

Erin Marcelino our Executive Administrator and Franco Cheng National’s Graphic Designer / Website Coordinator have worked hard to update our website this year.  So please plan to visit it soon at (www.cictoronto.org).  If you have any suggestions, please let us know.  We would be more than happy to explore them.

Thanks to all of the volunteers for their hard work and dedication to both the board and their committees; they make my position so much easier. A special thanks to Erin Marcelino for everything she does, I could not do this job without her.

Welcome to the new members of the board, we look forward to your participation and fresh ideas for the coming year.

I also want to thank Sandra, our photographer.  She is always there for us at our special events and makes everyone look so good.

One further note, this year the National Conference is being held in Ottawa featuring keynote speaker Justin Trudeau. Several emails have been sent to our members but if you missed them or do not remember, the details can be found on both the Toronto and National websites or by brochure here tonight.  I hope to see all of you there.  It sounds like it is going to be a very exciting and informative conference.

Thanks again for attending this evening and please stay to join us in some light appetizers and refreshments after the chapter business meeting has been completed.
